While laying on the couch and too tired/sick to do anything, I realized that I needed to give an update on my Totoro Dresser. I have made progress! All the characters are complete. I just need to design flowers around the top and drawers.

My Bracelet that Sparkles
Design, JewelryAnother completed bracelet! I started this piece over a year ago. It was a very tedious piece that required lots of needles and lots of patience. I ran into a dilemma while working on it. I didn’t have enough crystals to complete the bracelet like that pattern suggested… So I changed it and made it my own! So while there are a ton of crystals all over this bracelet there are suppose to be more. ha! So sparkly!!
Work in Progress – Totoro Nightstand
DesignIt’s a new year and time to start working on the night stand I primed last month. I’ve been debating what to do for this project. I was thinking flowers. But then I did the TARDIS dresser… So I decided I would put a nerdy spin on this piece as well!!
Springtime Flora Necklace – Wrong Season? Whoops!
JewelryThis is my second version of Flora necklace designed by Melanie Potter. Clearly my mind is set in Spring instead of Winter. It took several different iterations of color combinations to get the perfect bright colored flowers for the necklace.
A week of work told in beads…
JewelryI’ve mentioned this before, but for those who are new and thought I only going to bead stores giving critiques, I very much admire the artist Laura Mccabe. Her work is fantastic. One day I will be designing pieces that are on her level of artistic perfection. So… as you have probably guessed, the following piece is one of her kits. The Eiffel Tower bracelet.
Doctor Who – Starry Night TARDIS Dresser
DesignMy project is complete and I am in love with it. After living in Denver for about 5 weeks and working on an Ikea dresser each weekend I finished.
I’m going to start with the worst picture! haha I should have gotten an eggshell finish for the polyurethane. But that’s alrightie. Still looks great! So welcome to the tardis…
Catch Up
DesignSince Switzerland I have moved to Denver and started a new job. Everything is great! I have kept up with beading as well as other projects. In fact I have a few too many projects going on right now! My horoscope said I should should work on finishing a project. So my current goal is to complete them before I head home for Christmas.
Bern, Chocolate and Castles
AdventuresBern
My first Saturday here we explored Bern. We first went to the outdoor market downtown. This markets specializes in food (lots of cheese, meats, and bread), flowers, and other stuff (scarves, hats, belts, etc.). After we walked the entire market we got breakfast at one of the food trucks. I got a tasty fried apple dish called Apfelküchlein (two weeks later I realized what I had was pineapple). Yummy. It is a traditional food of Switzerland.
A Day of Airports and Planes
AdventuresI left on a Tuesday for my first adventure across the Atlantic. I spent about 24 hours traveling to my destination. There was a long layover in Dallas where I spent most of my time playing Bioshock Infinite and chowing down on my last American meal (Qdoba!!!). Luckily my flights were mostly uneventful. So uneventful that I slept through the first two flights.
Geisha Flower Necklace
JewelryAnother day and another necklace. I made this last fall while I was still in DC. However, I never thought to bring clasps with me to finish the pieces I made in the northeast (either bead stores were inconvenient to get to or they did not have quite what I was looking for). So when I returned home after graduation I picked up clasps to complete my projects.
Tonight I present the Geisha Flower necklace. It was a lot of fun to make and I love the colors I chose to give depth to the focal piece. Again, I did a ndebele chain (as suggested by the BeadCulture pattern) to complete the necklace. The chain really give the piece a bit of romance and beauty.
